As a heavy user of the application, Meituan, the largest food delivery platform in China, I use it more than five times a week on average. However, it is surprising for me to realize that I have hardly ever seen the same delivery worker, and hardly ever talked with them except on the phone.
The delivery workers work in the neighborhood where we reside, and have countless daily interactions with the people and objects in the neighborhood, but we rarely pay attention to them. They have established intimacy with the neighborhood, while also been alienated from it.
